Abstract:
The Micosoft.Net Common Language Runtime team will be presenting the following topics:
Major Enhancement in the CLR 2.0
Migration from Microsoft.Net 1.1 applications to Microsoft.Net 2.0
Co-existence of Microsoft.Net 1.1 applications and Microsoft.Net 2.0
Future of CLR.
After the presentation, the User Group members will have the ability to
ask questions, open discussion on what is good with the .Net CLR and
what needs improvements.

| | Steve Herndon
Steve is a Lead Program Manager on the Common Language Runtime. In the mid-90's he worked for Microsoft as an engineer for almost 3 years working on Windows and Multi-Media CD-ROMs. He then went to make games for 9 years before returning to Microsoft and starting with the CLR team almost 1 year ago. While in the games business Steve worked for DreamWorks Interactive (DWI) (a Microsoft & DreamWorks SKG joint
venture) for 5 years starting as an engineer and ending up as a Technical Director. DWI was acquired by EA in 1999 and became EALA, Steve transferred to EA Seattle later that year as a Development Director. EA Seattle closed in November 2002 Steve then joined GameHouse a small internet game company (Super Collapse!) as an engineer
and worked there for 6 months shipping several games. Steve then
worked at CrankyPants Games for a year as the Project Manager before rejoining Microsoft in August of 2004. Steve is currently the PM Lead for Developer Services (Profiling, Debugging, MDAs and Security).

| | Joe Duffy
Joe is a Program Manager on the Common Language Runtime Team at Microsoft, focused primarily on bringing consistency and quality to managed APIs in the .NET Framework and WinFX ("Avalon" and "Indigo"), and also on developing platform abstractions for concurrent and parallel computing. Before heading to Redmond to work at Microsoft, he worked at Massachusetts-based EMC Corporation for 3 years, the world's leader in storage software, was an independent consultant for small businesses developing .NET Framework solutions, and most recently the CTO of a start-up ISV, Sensova Systems, which developed J2EE-based RFID management software. Keep on the look out for Joe's upcoming book, Professional .NET Framework 2.0, coming out later this year. His recent ramblings can be found on his blog at http://www.bluebytesoftware.com/.

| | Kit George
Kit George has been a Program Manager on the Base Class Libraries section of the Common Language Runtime Team, for almost 5 years. Prior to joining Microsoft, Kit worked for EDS on a range of applications including a medical symptom grouping library, and an automobile factory tracking system, before becoming an instructor in Visual Basic. Since joining Microsoft, Kit has worked on compatibility guidelines and tools to help identify version changes between assemblies, and has been an integral part of determining the BCL features in the V2.0 product.
